Monitoring and assessment

The Youth Empowerment programme uses structured monitoring and assessment to understand how young people are progressing and where additional support is needed. This helps us respond to changing circumstances, identify risks early and strengthen programme quality over time.

Monitoring Progress and Individual Support

We regularly track engagement across youth groups, mentoring, training activities and reintegration pathways. Alongside this, each young person completes an individual assessment to identify goals, strengths and evolving support needs.

Progress against personal goals is reviewed over time, allowing care plans to be adjusted and support tailored as young people move towards greater independence.

Safeguarding Oversight

Safeguarding considerations are embedded throughout monitoring and assessment. Referrals, follow‑up actions and protective responses are recorded and reviewed to ensure young people remain safe, supported and connected to appropriate services.

youth feedback and learning

Young people can share feedback, concerns or suggestions through regular discussions and a toll‑free feedback number.

Their input informs programme improvements, strengthens accountability and ensures learning is shaped by lived experience.

Together, this approach allows us to track progress, respond to risk and learn continuously, while keeping young people at the centre of decisions that affect their wellbeing and future.

Case Study: From Street Vendor to Entrepreneur

Neema joined an AGYW group after years of informal street trading.

Through savings training and peer mentorship, she launched a small tailoring business. She now mentors younger girls entering the programme.

Her journey reflects the shift from survival to stability.
